Welcome

Thanks for your interest in these exciting new roles at the new East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) – we’re the first combined county authority in the country, we’ve an ambitious vision for our future and now we need a top leadership team that can build on the strong foundations we’ve laid over the past couple of years to deliver inclusive growth for our region.

Political leaders across Derbyshire, Derby, Nottinghamshire and Nottingham councils have an impressive determination to make a difference. They’ve been working together with the four constituent councils and the interim team here at EMCCA to unlock billions of pounds of investment for our region through our devolution deal with government.

That spirit of cooperation across the political spectrum is just one of things that’s pretty special about working here. Consensus, collegiate support, openness and honesty across our constituent councils, partners and stakeholders have brought us to this point and will characterise our growth and delivery in the future.

We’ve only been formally established as the EMCCA since the end of February. Since then we’ve held our first Board meeting to agree our constitution, budget, pay and grading framework and the strategic economic framework that will drive our work. But that’s just the beginning and our new leadership team will shape, drive and deliver a massive programme of change and transformation for the region. Inclusive growth is at the heart of what we will do – everyone will benefit from our work.

Our newly elected Mayor will be a powerful voice on the national stage for the people of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, overseeing investment in transport, housing, skills and adult education, economic development and the environment.

Not many jobs give you the opportunity to lead and shape massive regional programmes, work across local and central government, focus on our many partners and stakeholders (and not just the usual suspects) and set the tone for a new, small (but growing) organisation that will work differently, flexibly and – above all – put the region first.

We’ve got a lot to tackle over the coming months. If you’re up for the most exciting challenge in your career, do let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.

Mark Rogers
